Momentum Proteas opener Laura Wolvaardt says scoring runs at will  against Bangladesh has given their batting unit much needed confidence, as they approach yet another World Cup semifnal. South Africa breezed past Bangladesh with a 10 wickets victory and booked a date against England in the ICC Womens T20 World Cup semi final on Friday, at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town.
The Proteas women were set a target of 114 runs to win, and the opening pair of Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits put together an unbeaten 117-run partnership. South Africa had a slow start to the match as they scored 43 runs in the first 10 overs, but eventually turned the corner to get runs at a rapid pace. Wolvaardt top scored with an unbeaten 65 off 56 balls, with 7 fours and 1 six. Tazmin Brits also got her half century with a knock of 50 runs from 51 balls with 4 fours, as they reached their target with 2 overs to spare.
Defending champions Australia will take on India in the first semi final on Friday. South Africa has a date with England to fight for a place in Sundays final.
Wolvaardt highlighted the Proteas women’s short falls especially with the bat, and believes their performance against Bangladesh has given them great confidence ahead of the semi final.
