2020 Inflation Second Lowest in 51 Years

The annual inflation rate of 3.3-percent for 2020 was the lowest in more than 15 years while consumer price inflation went down from 3.2 in November to 3.1-percent in December.

Despite these noticeable decreases, Statistics South Africa has however announced that food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 6-percent year-on-year.

It says three food groups recorded above-average annual and monthly price increases in December.

Meat prices rose by 7.3-percent.

Prices in the oils and fats category were up by 10.2-percent …….and sugar, sweets and dessert products recorded an annual rise of 8.4-percent.
