8 Illegal Miners Resurface from Stilfontein Shaft Amid Allegations of Cannibalism.

Eight illegal miners resurfaced from Shaft 10 in Stilfontein, North West, and are now in police custody. Authorities have confirmed that 12 bodies remain underground, with reports of cannibalism emerging due to severe food shortages.

The situation has reportedly been ongoing for several weeks, with a total of 39 illegal miners resurfacing from the same shaft in recent months.

Community members have called for the legalisation of mining operations to address poverty in the area. However, voluntary rescue efforts for those still trapped have largely been abandoned.

Police investigations are continuing, and officials have yet to provide further updates on the rescue or recovery operations.
