AA Calls for an Investigation Into Fuel Hikes

The Automobile Association says the increase in the fuel prices once again points to the need for an urgent investigation and recalculation of the current fuel pricing model and its existing elements.

The petrol price has gone up by 81-cents a litre, while diesel is up by between 72.5-cents a litre and 74.5-cents.

The AA says the price of oil played almost no part in these increases.

It says this price disaster is home grown, as internationally, oil prices have pulled back from their recent highs, while Brent crude is currently trading around $75 a barrel.

The association’s Layton Beard says these increases are severe and will undoubtedly have major negative implications on already financially constrained consumers.
