Chief Justice-designate Raymond Zondo has vowed the judiciary will continue to strive to be respected and will do so without fear or favour.
He spoke during a briefing, saying judiciary positions are not given based on popularity, but to ensure justice.
Zondo addressed this matter in the wake of many saying they have lost confidence in South African courts.
He says the judiciary the country has, is completely independent.
