South African rapper AKA, whose real name is Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, has been making headlines on social media, recently with his claims of being the “greatest Hip Hop producer” of all time.
AKA, who has been active in the South African music industry for over a decade, has made a name for himself with his unique style, socially conscious lyrics, and powerful performances, across the globe. His music has earned him numerous awards and recognition, including multiple South African Music Awards and for Favorite South African star at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.

Surely as a producer I have put up more number 1’s than any producer in the history of SA Hip Hop.

Despite the controversy, the “Paradise’’ star remains confident in his position and continues to release music like, Lemons (Lemonade) Prada, Super Soft, music that resonates with fans. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in South African hip hop and continues to inspire new generations of artists.
Let’s take it back in 2016 when AKA made his debut on US music show ‘106 & Park’. He was introduced as the ‘king of SA rap’.
A fan had to admit on a tweet:
Aka is the best rapper in SA 🥺🙌🙌🙌 The King of South African hip hop.

An opener for the likes of Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross and Kendrick Lamar among others, AKA continues to foster a musical vein between the Americas and South Africa fusing the sounds of Afrobeat, trap, hip-hop and Afropop. Songs like “Fela in Versace” and “Fully In” stand as a testament to AKA’s unique versatility and, therefore, reach. Is it any wonder he tweeted what he tweeted, but hey, its AKA.
