Analayst Says Dube-Ncube Should Be Treated Like All Her Male Counterparts

Political analysts have warned against tokenism after the African National Congress (ANC) revealed Nomusa Dube-Ncube as premier candidate.

Dube-Ncube is KwaZulu-Natal’s finance MEC and will take over the reins from Sihle Zikalala, who stepped down on Friday.

While the announcement of the first female premier candidate has been welcomed, analyst Fikile Vilakazi, says Dube-Ncube must not be used as a token.

She says she hopes the leadership of the ANC will give her the chance to lead KZN as a politician with experience and ability, without any gatekeeping.

Meanwhile,  another analyst, Bheki Mngomezulu says he has no doubt that ANC KZN premier-elect, Nomusa Dube Ncube, will work well with the party’s provincial leadership.
