[ANALYSIS] SONA Out of Touch

Economist Dante Mashile says President Cyril Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation address was much of a private sector address.

Ramaphosa told MP’s attending the SONA 2022 that government does not create jobs but businesses do.

In the address the president said approximately 80% of the employed people in South Africa work in the private sector.

Mashile says the address was pro-business and pro private with little in terms of emphasizing pro poor communities.
