Political analyst, Ralph Mathekga, says president Cyril Ramaphosa is gathering a reputation as a scandal-prone leader.
Parliament is in the process of appointing an independent three-person panel, to determine whether there is a prima facie case for Ramaphosa’s impeachment over the Phala Phala scandal.
In an opinion piece, Mathekga says the motion of no confidence proposed by opposition parties in Ramaphosa could stun the African National Congress (ANC).
He says this includes the faction that is seen as his detractors.
He says the ANC should begin considering what a post-Ramaphosa leadership would look like.
Meanwhile, some ANC heavy weights have endoresed a second term for the current leader and this includes Fikile Mbalula.
