ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula says the shifting political landscape means they must work together across the political divide to find solutions based on a commitment to put citizens first. He delivered the keynote address at the Institute for Global Engagement in Irene, Gauteng.
Mbalula says not everyone agrees with the option to establish a government of national unity, and they respect the difference of views.
“Unlike a coalition, the government of national unity is a more inclusive form of government that brings together disparate parties, including those that disagree ideologically with us, to put the interests of the nation first.
“Our principled approach with the GNU was to invite all the parties to the table to engage in a constructive manner, placing the interest of the country and its people first,” says Mbalula.
