ANC Releases Final Mayoral Candidates List

The ANC has release the list of its Mayoral candidates for the country’s metros and for the more than 200 municipalities spread out countrywide.
The party’s National Executive Committee NEC met in a special session yesterday to consider mayoral nominations for metro, local and district municipalities.
The finalisation of the party’s list comes ahead of tomorrow’s deadline for councils to be convened in all municipalities.
Mxolisi Kaunda has been re-elected by the ANC in KZN to return as the party’s mayoral candidate for the eThekwini metro.
The decision comes as coalition talks continue between the ANC and IFP in the province over four key economic hubs which are part of the hung municipalities, with both parties wanting the leadership role.
Meanwhile, the NEC has sought to uphold its fundamental principle of gender equality and the affirmation of women leadership in deployment of the mayoral candidates.
Just under half of all its candidates are women.
