ANC Secretary General (SG), Ace Magashule, says the list of party members who should step aside by the end of the month should also include those not yet charged.

Magashule says this rule should include those members even though they are implicated or alleged to be involved in wrongdoing.

The SG himself faces a spate of corruption charges related to his time as Free State premier.

The ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) instructed at the end of last month, only those charged with serious criminal offences should step aside within 30 days.

In a letter to the provincial secretaries, Magashule writes that all 9 provinces are requested to submit, by Thursday, 15 April at 17h00, the names of those members who have been charged with corruption or other serious crime as well as those who are alleged, reported or implicated in corrupt practices.

He says provinces must provide details of whether affected comrades have been informed personally, in writing.
