The ANC’s National Working Committee (NWC) has expressed concern over the escalation of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Party spokesperson Pule Mabe has briefed the media following its weekly meeting.
Earlier this week, South Africa decided to abstain from the United Nations General Assembly vote, to reprimand Russia for invading Ukraine.
A permanent representative to the United Nations, Mathu Joyini has cited that while South Africa calls for peace, it will however not take part in creating more tensions.
Mabe says the ANC will also reiterate the call by president Cyril Ramaphosa for the UN security council to consider to pursue peaceful and diplomatic solutions to the conflict, in line with the UN Charter.
