The State Capture Commission of Inquiry has filed an urgent court application seeking an extension until the end of June to complete its work.

In an affidavit, the commission’s chairperson, Raymond Zondo, says the work of the inquiry had been delayed due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

Zondo says there was also a disruptive impact on some of the work of the investigation team, not being able to travel across provincial borders to seek out and consult potential witnesses.

The commission has already cost the taxpayer over R800-million thus far.
