The transport department in the province has urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads following the death of 11 people in two separate accidents.
Yesterday six people were killed in the KwaNgcolosi area near Inanda Dam in Hillcrest ,outside Durban, when a taxi they were travelling in lost control and over turned.
The taxi veered off the road and rolled down a steep embankment, coming to rest approximately a kilometer below.
IPSS spokesperson, Paul Herbst, says paramedics had to use a medicopter to retrieve the deceased and those that were injured.
