Auditor-General Tsakani Maluleke says there has been a gradual upward trend in the national and provincial government audit outcomes.
However, there were still deficiencies in financial and performance management.
She presented the 2021/22 general and material irregularity reports yesterday.
The Western Cape Departments of Health, Transport and Public Works, and the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Human Settlements received clean audits.
Maluleke says service delivery portfolios were responsible for more than 30% of the expenditure budget but consistently had the worst audit outcomes.
