Basic Education Department Updates on Marking & Possible Lockdown Impact

The department of Basic Education says schools wont be allowed to operate, should the country move up to lockdown alert level 5.
This as President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the nation on Monday evening, on developments in relation to the country’s response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The department’s Director-General, Mathanzima Mweli, has been breifing media on the progress of the marking process of National Senior Certificate.
Mweli has also confirmed that in KwaZulu Natal, at least one matric marker has died due to COVID-19, adding that centers will be closed if cases continue to rise.
