Billions Paid to Suspended Government Employees

The Department of Public Service and Administration has revealed that an amount of R4.5 billion has been spent to pay salaries of suspended government employees.

This comes after the Democratic Alliance called for a full update on staff members who are under investigation, but continue to receive full benefits.

The audit report shows that in 2019/20 financial year, taxpayers contribute R2.4 billion.
