Proteas spinner Bjorn Fortuin says Keshav Maharaj’s absence has left “high standards” to be filled in the team as they are set to begin their three-match ODI series against West Indies. Maharaj suffered a ruptured achillies injury tendon after celebrating a successful LBW review in the final test against the West Indies on Saturday, and has been ruled out of the upcoming series.
Spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has been called as a replacement for Maharaj, who is now in danger of missing the 50 overs World cup in October. Fortuin returns to the Proteas white ball set up after missing out of the ODI Series win against England in January, and says losing Maharaj has left a high standards that needs to be filled and they will take it one day at time to fulfill the job.
