Boity drops assault charges against Bujy

Written by on 7 June, 2023

Following Monday’s mediation process in court, rapper, entrepreneur, and television personality Boity Thulo dropped the assault charges against Bujy Bikwa.

If you’ve been carefully following, you’d know that in 2021, it was reported that former Metro FM radio host Bujy Bikwa got into an alleged physical altercation with media personality Boity Thulo. This occurred after the pair got into a heated argument, landing the TV star in hospital after sustaining serious injuries. Now, almost two years later, Boity has dropped the charges of assault against Bujy.

Boity opened a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm at a police station in Johannesburg, as the alleged assault took place at the Courtyard Hotel.

TshisaLIVE reports that the two have now resolved their issues after a mediation process at the Midrand magistrate’s court.

Speaking exclusively to the above-mentioned publication, Bujy said, “We hugged, we spoke, and we are okay. We both agreed we are going to move on and be civil towards one another. I’m at peace, we are both at peace. I think it’s a lesson learned from me. I think from both of us.”

Bujy then mentions that both he and Boity agreed that there were lessons that had to be learned without condoning any violence. “With this experience, I went through it and learned so much from [it]. Now I am now able to be a better advocate to no violence.”

The DJ also told TshisaLIVE that he had to undergo therapy to help him deal with his depression and social anxiety.

He said, “This thing broke me. Going through depression and suffering from social anxiety was the hardest thing I’ve had to go through. It’s been a year. I had to do my own healing. The silence for me was very important for my sanity. I don’t have anything to hide.”

After the alleged fight, Bujy also lost two TV shows and ambassadorship deals, causing him to downgrade his lifestyle. He moved from a golf estate to a smaller apartment.

“I had to forgive myself and what had happened because at some point you if don’t forgive yourself, thinking you should have walked away… There are so many emotions. If you sit in this hole, you’re going to die in it. I never thought I’d be in such a situation.”

He then said that he does not want to pretend that he is fine. “…deep down inside my soul is crashing, and being in that space can be very overwhelming. Socially, if it’s not work-related I struggle but slowly and surely, I am trying to adjust.”

Previously Bujy had tweeted that he has been losing gigs due to this incident, hopefully now that they have buried the hatched things will finally look good for Bujy.
