Spar Proteas Captain Bongiwe Msomi says she will be looking to seek guidance from Siya Kolisi and other national team captains who have done well for South Africa on the international stage, as they prepare for the Netball World Cup. There is just over a month left before the showpiece event starts in Cape Town. Speaking to journalists in a round-robin discussion on Tuesday morning the Spar Proteas captain spoke at length about the readiness of the team, and the strategies they will adopt to give themselves the best chance to succeed at the World Cup.

The pressure is mounting on Norma Plummers team who, like the Proteas women’s team earlier on this year, will have the hopes of the nation on their shoulders as they fight for the world crown on home soil. Msomi believes her talks with other national team captains will help her to deal with that pressure as the captain and leader of the team.

Spar Proteas will begin their World Cup campaign against Wales on 28 July, before they take on Sri Lanka the day after then Jamaica on 30 July 2023.
