Business Unity South Africa says government urgently needs to procure more electricity from renewable-energy producers.
Eskom announced last night that phase one load shedding will be implemented today, but said later that it has to revert to phase two from noon till eleven tonight.
More than 270 hours of blackouts contributed to the country’s economy shrinking by 3.2 per cent in the first quarter of this year.
Busa’s acting CEO Cas Coovadia says for years Eskom has been battling to meet demand due to the deterioration of its ageing plants.
