Members of the public have expressed disappointment about the ongoing beach closures in eThekwini ahead of the festive season.

The hospitality sector has voiced its concern about this, saying this is having a negative impact on tourism as tourists are less likely to book if they will not be able to experience the beach.

EThekwini municipality says the closures are due to poor water quality which it says was affected by sewage infrastructure damaged in the April floods.

Some tourists say their plans have been ruined.
