Police minister Bheki Cele, will be leading a taxi industry meeting with taxi owners and concerned stakeholders within the Ugu and Harry Gwala Districts in KwaZulu-Natal today.

The planned consultative meeting comes after a spate of taxi-related shootings in which taxi owners, drivers, members of the taxi industry leadership and the public have been injured and killed.

Last month, the minister also visited the crime scene that shocked the international community after 21 children died at Enyobeni tavern in the Eastern Cape after suffocating from toxic substances.

Police ministry spokesperson, Lirandzu Themba, says the meeting comes after a spate of taxi-related killings.
