Today is Nelson Mandela International Day.
In November 2009 the United Nations General Assembly adopted a unanimous resolution in recognition of the former South African president’s contribution to the culture of peace and freedom.
The day marks Mandela’s life and is used as a global call to action for people to recognise their individual power to make an imprint and change the world.
This year’s theme is: The Legacy Lives on Through You: Climate, Food and Solidarity.
Mandela was born in this day in 1918, and passed away on the fifth of December 2013 at the age of 95.
Here is what Madiba had said about Mandela Day.
