Civil rights organisation Action Society says it is extremely concerned about the massive increase in gender-based violence cases and contact crimes in South Africa.
This follows the recent quarterly crime statistics released which shows an increase in most crimes that occurred between April and the end of June this year.
Action Society Spokesperson, Tshepi Mmekwa, says under the radar and not mentioned in the reports, is the question of how many members of the police have criminal records themselves.
She says Action Society has the firm belief that anyone in law enforcement should be beyond reproach.
