ConCourt Dismisses Mkhwebane’s Application

Written by on 16 March, 2021

Parliament may go ahead with the inquiry into Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s fitness for office.

This is after the Constitutional Court dismissed her application for direct access to appeal a Western Cape High Court’s ruling against it.

Mkhwebane last year approached the High Court for an interdict to stop proceedings.

A hearing over her application to declare the rules of the National Assembly for removal proceedings invalid and unconstitutional will be heard later in the year.

The National Assembly will decide this afternoon on whether to proceed with the inquiry.
