The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is warning that South Africa could still face a fourth wave, despite a decrease in new COVID-19 cases.

The country has recorded 648 new cases in the past 24 hours.

The majority of new cases are from KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, and the Western Cape. A further 25 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported.

CSIR’s Ridhwaan Suliman has told the public broadcast that the fourth wave could be before the end of the year.
