Meanwhile Deputy Health Minister, Joe Phahla, says they will continue working with the Basic Education Department as it prepares to re-open schools next month.

There are fears among parents that children will not be protected enough from contracting the coronavirus with most schools being overcrowded lacking hygiene and even proper infrastructure.

Phahla says they have a duty as all government departments to ensure the safety of all South Africans especially children when they flock in numbers back to school.
