The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa and the South African Cabin Crew Association have opened a criminal case against the South African Airways and SAA Technical’s executive management and board.

The court action follows a protest at SAA’s headquarters in Kempton Park, Gauteng, today.

Workers are demanding payment from the employers saying its been month since their last pay cheque.

According to Numsa spokesperson Phakamile Hlubi-Majola, personnel have not been paid for eight months.

She says it is December and holidays are around the corner, but workers have no idea where their next meal will come from.
