DA Against Salary Increase For Councillors

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Msunduzi Local Municipality has written to Cogta MEC, Sipho Hlomuka requesting that he rejects the municipality’s resolution to increase salaries and benefits for councillors.
The increment was brought before council last week and will only be implemented if MEC Hlomuka approves.
The municipality has been under administration for several years, and the intervention has been renewed several times.
DA Msunduzi Chief Whip Bongumusa Nhlabathi says they are against the increment as the municipal finances haven’t improved.
