The Democratic Alliance (DA) says it is unacceptable that the minister in the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele, is deliberately hampering the mandate of Parliament’s standing committee on Public Accounts.
The minister and State Security Agency were set to brief the committee yesterday, however, at the eleventh hour, Scopa was told that the agency would brief the Intelligence Committee in a closed meeting instead.
The DA’s Benedicta van Minnen says the minister argued that giving an update on the vetting of employees of state-owned entities is part of the sole accountability to the Justice committee.
