DA Leader John Steenhuisen says their main priority now as new governments take over at local level, is to ensure communities receive the basic services they need to survive.

He maintains this can only be achieved if the leaders put people’s needs before their own.

Steenhuisen maintains the DA will not form any coalition with the EFF because they want stability and peaceful communities everywhere they serve.

His comment comes after the party rejected a proposed deal by opposition parties that would have seen Action SA leader Herman Mashaba given the City of Johannesburg’s mayoral chain.

Stennhuisen says right now any vote for Mashaba is a vote for the EFF.
