The Democratic Alliance (DA) says Eskom has delivered a deathblow to the small business sector for the second time this year when it announced Stage 6 load shedding.

On Sunday, Eskom escalated the deliberate power cuts to stage 6 which was last seen in July citing further breakdowns at its Kusile and Kriel power stations.

The grid has been under severe pressure for the past week and the ailing parastatal has warned South Africans to brace themselves for higher stages and further escalation of load shedding this week as the national grid remains severely constrained.

DA Shadow Minister for Small Business Development, Jan de Villiers says this year has seen South Africa experiencing unprecedented levels of power cuts with no sign of an immediate end.
