The Democratic Alliance (DA) has declined the EFF’s invitation to join its mass march to the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) offices tomorrow.

It says while it agrees that many more COVID-19 vaccines should be in circulation, SAHPRA should be allowed to do its scientific work without undue political influence.

The EFF has accused president Cyril Ramaphosa of influencing SAHPRA’s refusal to allow the Russian vaccine, Sputnik V, to be administered in South Africa.

The EFF says South Africans should be allowed to have variety of vaccines.

However, DA Spokesperson, Siviwe Gwarube says any credible regulator has to be above the political jostling that the EFF is drawing SAHPRA into.
