Springbok Assistant coach Deon Davids believes that tackling their first Castle Lager Rugby Championship match against Austrailia is going to be tricky since the Boks haven’t seen the Aussies in action under new coach Eddie Jones. The Springboks will kick-start their shortened Rugby Championship campaign in Pretoria on Saturday, which will be one of six fixtures for South Africa before they begin their title defence at the Rugby world cup in France.
Eddie Jones was reappointed as Austrailia coach in January, replacing Davie Rennie just eight months before the world cup. Austrailia’s last fixture was a 39-34 win against Wales in November last year which brought the end of Rennie’s tenure. Deon Davids believes that Saturday’s test match is going to be tricky for the Boks as they haven’t seen Austrailia play, and not quite sure what Eddie Jone’s men are going to bring on the field. Davids adds that finding solutions on the run is going to be key for the World Champions to get the win in Pretoria on Saturday.
