De Lille Accounts on Failed Border Fence

Public Works Minister, Patricia de Lille, says her department is working around the clock to attend to the rebuilding of the controversial Beitbridge border fence.

The boarder which is a division between Zimbabwe and South Africa is a failed project that amounted to R40 million.

According to de Lille, 13 officials in her department are facing disciplinary action over their role in this project which was described as irregular expenditure as well as not fit for the purpose intended for..

Answering questions before the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, de Lille says they are in the process of looking at proposals that they have received.

The minister says in these proposals they are looking for solutions including the use of technology that will assist monitoring the activities at the boarder post.
