Defiant Liquor Traders Risk Losing Trading License

Written by on 31 December, 2020

The Department of Economic Development in KwaZulu-Natal warns liquor traders who contravene the lockdown regulations that they will lose their licences.

This comes after several outlets have reportedly continued selling alcohol after the ban was announced.

According to the Alert Level 3 Regulations night clubs, bars, shebeens and taverns are closed. It also states that the sale, dispensing and distribution of liquor for both on and off consumption is prohibited.

MEC Ravi Pillay says those who take the chance of trading illegally, have to know that they could end up in a much worse situation should they lose their licences and be barred from trading.
