Didiza calls for legislature to ensure women own land

Written by on 19 August, 2020

Agriculture and Land Affairs minister, Thoko Didiza, says she’s concerned about the exclusion of women from land ownership in the country.

Didiza had been addressing MP’s during a National Women’s Day debate in Parliament.

She says men have been the major beneficiaries of the government’s land reform programme, adding that women especially the rural poor most of whom depend on land for their livelihood, continue to be short-changed by a system.

Didiza says the legislature must do everything to ensure that women do own land.
