Discussions of Election Day Being a Public Holiday

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma says there will be discussions between President Cyril Ramaphosa, Home Affairs Minister and COGTA regarding declaring the election day public holiday.

Dlamini-Zuma has announced that the local government election will be held on Monday the 1st of November this year.

She says the concerned departments are yet to decide on whether this day should be a public holiday.

Dlamini-Zuma adds that president Ramaphosa is still consulting relevant stakeholders regarding bringing the country to a lower COVID-19 level to allow political parties to conduct their voter campaigns.
