Dlamini-Zuma Assesses Damage in KZN

COGTA Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma says her department is working with other government departments to assess the actual damage and costs caused by the floods in the province.

Dlamini-Zuma has been visiting the areas that were hardest hit by the floods in uMgungundlovu district.

Her visit has included an oversight to the KZN Provincial Management Disaster Center in Mkhondeni, where donations for the flood victims are being kept.

Addressing the media at Henley Dam where three family members were swept away she says emergency works are being done but the process of collecting more information is currently underway.

She also visited uMsunduzi River where three family members were swept away during the floods.

As this is not the first incident, she has promised that two temporary bridges will be built to assist the residents in the area who have been pleading for a bridge due to incidents of people being swept away by the river
