DoE in KZN to publish scholar transport policy

The Provincial Department of Education has committed itself that by 30 January 2020 it will publish its provincial scholar transport policy for public comment and participation.
This comes after the movement, Equal Education, took the department to the Pietermaritzburg high court demanding that it releases a detailed draft with clear time frames within which the KZN Scholar Transport Policy will be finalized.
In 2018 the department delivered taxis and buses to transport learners in Nquthu which EE says it is not enough.
Equal Education lawyer, Tarryn Cooper-Bell, says since both parties have signed an order by consent it means there will be a way forward.
