Education And Health Receive Biggest Cut

The KwaZulu Natal Education and Health departments have been excluded from the budget cuts of the 2023/24 financial year announced by provincial Finance MEC Peggy Nkonyeni.
Speaking at the KZN Legislature in Maritzburg during her provincial budget allocation Nkonyeni says both the Education and Health departments have been affected by the budget cuts over the years adding that with
the current financial year they have been excluded.
The Education Department received the largest chunk of R60,6 billion, followed by the Health Department with R50,7 billion and the Transport department which received R13 billion.
An amount of R631, million has been specifically allocated to settle the payment of Izinduna in the province of KwaZulu Natal.
Nkonyeni says other additional funds have been allocated for the compensation of government employees.
