The Basic Education department says no learner should be left alone to deal with feelings of failure, that come with not passing their matric.

Thousands of pupils who sat down for their exams last year will know their results tomorrow.

Minister Angie Motshekga will officially announce the results on Monday afternoon.

The 2020 academic year was an uphill battle for many students, especially those from remote public schools  with little or no access to the internet and other methods set up to assist with learning.

Education Spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga says families, and friends should support learners who have not achieved a pass and help them register to rewrite.

Furthermore, the department’s Director-General, Mathanzima Mweli, says for the first time teachers had to work under crucial conditions due to COVID-19.

Mweli says teachers were hard hit by this pandemic , with more than 2000 succumbing to the virus by January.
