Emtee, born Mthembeni Ndevu, is a South African rapper and songwriter known for his unique style and storytelling abilities. He rose to fame in 2015 with his hit single “Roll Up” and has since released several successful albums and collaborated with other prominent artists in the industry. However, recently, Emtee has announced that he plans to quit rapping soon.
Rappers in South African hip-hop very seldom mention their desire to put down the mic and quit rapping. Emtee is the latest rapper to come out and have revealed when he will call it quits with rapping.
Taking to Twitter, Emtee stated that he wants to stop rapping at the age of 50. “Ima stop rapping when I’m 55 years old,”
tweeted Emtee.
Despite mentioning when he wants to retire, Emtee made it clear that in the interim he will continue pushing the music. The rapper claimed that everything he is going to do he will be doing it for his late idol AKA.
“Ima do it for kiernan,” he tweeted.
Emtee has made multiple appearances on a lot of top events like the Afrima awards and other top award shows both locally and internationally. He has also gotten special appearances on major TV shows like the Home ground show on Mzansi Magic and Channel O. He has also performed on major clubs and at South African festivals.
Emtee is one of the top artistes in South Africa who came to the music scene fully equipped. He has made that obvious with the hit songs and the albums he has been dishing out since his debut. We really suggest retiring at 55 is not what we’ve envisioned for the talented rapper.
