Energy Tariffs Hike to Impact Negatively on Businesses

Written by on 7 December, 2020

The Business Chamber of South Africa has called on the national energy regulator, NERSA, for an urgent meeting.

Electricity tariffs are set to rise to 128 cents per kilowatt-hour next year following Eskom’s court victory over Nersa regarding the regulator’s 69-billion-rand equity injection.

The BCSA which represents numerous businesses across all nine provinces says the shock of the tariff increase on businesses needs to be addressed.

The chamber says businesses are already struggling financially to recover from COVID-19.
