Eskom CEO Andre De Ruyter says the Medupi power station is insured and they are in consultation with their insurer following the explosion that happened last year.
The estimated cost to repair it is R2.5 billion.
De Ruyter says they are still in discussions with the insurer to determine who will pay for what and to what extent.
Eskom says funding remains critical in order for the company to successfully turn around its performance.
On accountability, he says appropriate action is being taken against those involved.
