Eskom CEO André de Ruyter has warned against reports that the country might experience a blackout, which he has labelled as speculations.

De Ruyter says while the country’s power grid is under immense pressure, but there is no indication that it could face a total collapse.

Currently the country is on stage 3 load-shedding while South Africans are facing the cold season and rainy weather.

De Ruyter says the power utility is doing everything it can to bring generating units back into service, and keep a close watch on the fragile power system.

Giving a brief update on the power system, he says a national black-out is not on the cards.
