Eskom Signs Up Battery Contracts With Hyosung Heavy Industries and Pinggao Group

Eskom has awarded contracts to Hyosung Heavy Industries and Pinggao Group for the provision of battery storage in the first part of the 500 megawatts Battery Energy Storage System project announced by president Cyril Ramaphosa.
Eskom spokesperson, Sikonathi Mantshantsha, says phase one includes the installation of approximately 199 megawatts of additional capacity.
He says sites for the first stage are four in the Western Cape, two in KwaZulu-Natal, and one each in the Eastern Cape and Northern Cape.
