Eskom urges citizens to use electricity sparingly

Eskom warns that the electricity system is severely constrained today and will remain so until at least Thursday.
This is as a result of the unexpected loss of some generation units over the weekend.
Load shedding is not expected at this stage, but may be necessary at short notice.
Eskom says the system remains vulnerable due to historic factors such as inadequate maintenance and the ageing of plants.
It appealed to users to use electricity sparingly.
